Gathering and mining

From Groundwork Wiki

Gathering and mining give you materials from plants, rocks and debris. See Using tools.

Pick up and chop

You can take loose Stone, Fiber and mushrooms by hand. You can also pick ripe fruit from trees by hand. Use the Axe to fell wild trees for logs. A wild fruit tree also drops its remaining ripe fruit when felled. If you need an axe, the tree's card names it before you start the action.

Dig and break rock

Use the Pickaxe to break standing rocks and ore veins for materials such as Iron, Copper and Silicon. Use the Shovel to remove the stumps and boulders left behind. On beaches, the shovel's DIG SAND action gives you Sand. NOTHING LEFT TO DIG means that spot is spent.

Clear debris

You can salvage debris by hand for scrap and parts. Each piece you clear counts under DEBRIS CLEARED in the journal. An early guide task requires you to clear one piece. See Getting started.
