Fishing

FULL Fishing records catches in the journal and supplies fish for the Archive's tanks. Fishing is available only in the full game. See Fish.

Tackle

Repair the Angler to learn the Fishing Rod recipe. He offers the Ice Drill recipe after you try to cast through frozen water. Drill a hole in pond ice and wait for a bite. Use PULL at the hole to hook the fish.

Fish availability depends on water, hour and weather. After you discover a species, its journal page shows its conditions. It also shows Biting now, Not biting now or Not on this planet.

Cast and reel

Stand on a clear bank, a pier or a bridge and cast beside a shadow. Wait through the nibbles and hook the fish when it bites. Reel without letting the strain or slack build too far. Too much strain snaps the line, and too much slack loses the fish.

A catch goes into your pockets if there is room. If there is no room, KEEP leaves you holding it. RELEASE is available when suitable water is within reach. Catching a new species records it in the journal even if you release it. Some fish require a pier or bridge, while others require a hole in pond ice.

After his hut is expanded, the Angler can mark the nearest water for a species you have discovered. He places the mark immediately and walks there during work hours.

The fish room

The Archive has one tank for each fish species that lives on the current planet. Speak to the Archivist inside to donate a fish from your pockets. When every tank holds its fish, the fish room is complete. See The Archive and Demo and full game.
