Machines and crafting
Machines and crafting turn gathered materials into parts and building kits. Machines refine materials, and the workbench makes components and kits. See Machines and Recipes.
The machines
- The Sawbench turns logs into planks and beams.
- The Kiln turns stone into bricks. Glass can be made from sand and silicon.
- The Smelter turns metals into plates.
Repairing the mechanic teaches these three machines, along with wire, circuit and casing recipes. At a built machine, choose a product and load its inputs. The batch then runs automatically, and the output waits for collection. These machines need power from their network. A machine can show NO POWER if it has no connected source or no power left to use. A source within reach can connect directly without a pylon. See Power.
Kits and the workbench
The workbench stands in Buddy's Hut. After his hut is finished, Buddy teaches the workbench recipe and one battery recipe during his conversation with you. He also teaches the Wind Turbine and Antenna recipes. Crafting a kit puts it in your pockets. Select the kit and place its preview on valid ground. Hold the action button to assemble it.
Repairs and daily gifts at finished huts teach more recipes. Some materials also teach decoration recipes when you first collect them. See Building and Repairing robots.
Full-game machines
FULL The generator teaches solar generators, capacitors and pylons when repaired. His geothermal recipe requires an expanded hut. The planter teaches the Composter recipe when its first hut expansion is completed. A composter turns crops into Compost without power.
