With the [[Hoe]] in hand, till open ground into soil. Select a crop seed packet to plant it in tilled soil. For flowers, dig a hole with the [[Shovel]], then select the flower seed packet to plant it. Select a sapling to plant it on free grass or dirt above the beach. Use the [[Water Bucket]] to water crop and flower beds. You can keep the action button down while walking to work several tiles. Each tile receives the action once during that hold. Rain also waters beds.

Growing crops need water and pollen for their next morning stage. You can pollinate a growing crop by hand. Morning growth uses up the crop's water and pollen. Harvest a ripe crop by hand. The ship's first request is always a crop. See [[Gathering and mining]] and [[The ship's requests]].
